My Impression On The Famous Play King Lear

But have we ever thought of that he is a ordinary man, as ordinary as ourselves, if he did not adopt other`s advices and true words, how could he maintain his kingship until present, how could he manage his country like this? However, because of his holding of a high position in usual time, he lives in the palace with submissive voices all around him for a long time, with people all around who ask for rewards from him and flatter him scrambledly, and with everyone and everything all centering him and acting according to his likes and dislikes. Over a long period, he was like an addict. For him, flattery and adulation became necessities in his life and he could not live without encomiastic speech.

When losing his throne and power and going through all kinds of difficulties, he found back his conscience. His last lament was not for his power and respect, but for his little daughter who was expelled and cursed by him. But he could not reclaim her enthusiasm and love from her sinking. He learned human kindred spirit is the most valuable and it can not be buyed through money or power because of these various experiences. However, when two daughters flattered him rhetoric to make him elated though all of their effort, only his youngest daughter was not fawning like others flattering to him, not afraid of contradicting him and greatly disappointed his father. Finally, she was deported out of their country under her father's anger.

The young daughter Cordelia was kind,naive and filial as well as obstinate and emotional.And this made her have not prepared for her father even she knew her sisters' true minds. In fact, keeping one's own dignity and attitude is right, but sometimes people must express their idea frankly to others by language, and sometimes language is much more powerful and effective than actions. She is also a happy girl, since she has got a husband who has true love for her when she is empty-handed, which is impossible to be owned by her two sisters. In fact, she is always living in a state of loving and being loved. But at the same time, she is impulsive. Because of her father's miserable sufferings from her two bad sisters, she sent the army to suppress them, with the result of failing and dying in the jail. Isn't she impulsive?

Kindness should be based on reason which means doing things you are confident and the reason or her failure is to fight without proper preparation. This story happened in a remote ancient country, but there are still some examples like that. We all like people who speak sugared words and enjoy praises, which will kill us at last. Isn't this the censure for these flattering schemers? In our real life, the phenomena and essence, appearance and content are too different, we can be the next King Lear who loses his sense because of the phenomena and appearance, the shinning things are not all gold. There is a concept and standard of good and evil, false and true in our hearts. No one can tell them when born, and it is not possible for us to have a good result as the story in the book.

We make a right judgment on right and wrong only after undergoing them. We also cannot lose our heads to tell just because of our desires inhearts. How can we feel sweet if we have not tasted bitter?
