Who Do You Agree? My Mother or I
| Mom often laughs at me that she is trendier than me. She knows what fashion is and how to enjoy fashion. The reason is simply: when most people, including middle-aged people such as my mother, choose to shopping online, I still stick to shop in entity store. In my opinion, there are too many fake products in the internet. And actually many online stores which claim to sell genuine goods all sell imitations. But my mother thinks differently. She often praises that online shopping brings her lots of convenience and surprise. Unexpectedly, my mother gets more than 90% of her buys online, from small home and garden appliance to brand accessories, no exception! And when I read the newspapers this morning, a piece of news in the first page drew my attention. "U.K. police shut down over 1200 scam shopping websites yesterday, and it is one of the biggest single swoop of its kind in the world." I called my mother right away and told her this news because two days ago, she just showed me that she ordered a piece of nice Tiffany necklace from an online store. Unfortunately, she hasn't received the Tiffany necklace she ordered what made thing worse was the website also disappeared. Then I tried to persuade my mother not to believe online shopping which bought people nothing but cheat and fake. "What a pity! That store is really good, but I can not buy things there any more," my mother said. It seemed that the disappearance of the shop made her more upset. But in the later of the day, I received a call from my Mom and she told me happily that she had received her orders. "The shop is OK, it is doing some improvements now, so I can not open their website," my mother said, "they sent me an email and explained that they had updated the old one www.tiffanystore.co.uk into www.tiffanystore.org" She even asked me to change my prejudice toward online shopping. Possibly, my mother is right and my opinion toward online shopping is not so correct. But 1200 websites were shut by U.K. police is also the truth. So I think online shopping has both advantages and disadvantages. |
