Thousands of Canadians Demonstrate Demand Government to Deal With Climate Change
Holy Week is the week before Easter, commemorating events in the last days of Jesus' life on Earth. It begins on Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Monday.

In many cities, thousands of environment-friendly Canadians on the 24th held various forms of demonstrations to call for the government to take more positive action to address global climate change.4 Vital Things that You May not Know about

More than one thousand environmentalists came to attend the function on the parliament square of the city centre in Ottawa even it rained at two o’clock in the afternoon on the same day. They lifted the labels of "We care for greenhouse gases emission""Yes, we can""Do you want to lose future?" and so on.What to Dress to Affair? - the Best Choice

Environmentalists unanimously requested the Canadian government to change the existing "negative attitude" and to come up with more strong measures to effectively cope with the problem of climate warming. After the function hold on the parliament square, the demonstrators walked to the Canadian premier Hubble's mansion for adjuration.

A female university student Kaya Sduck said to the reporters from the Xinhua news agency that now Canada is one of the countries who have the largest per capita carbon dioxide emission. She said, "We hope Canada could hand out ambitious aim (on gas emission decreasing) in Copenhagen (United Nations Conference on Climate Change)".

Another demonstrator Alex showed that global climate change had an impact on human life, if did not deal with it positively, it would have "disastrous consequences". He wore an XL T-shirt with two painted clocks whose hands pointed at ten minutes to four on both forebreast and back. Alex explained that the number represented the 350 p p m (1 p p m is one of million). The scientific studies showed that concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere should be controlled at less than 350 p p m in order to mitigate the climate change. But the current figure is more than 350ppm, "So we must push the clock hand back."

The same day, Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Victoria and other cities in Canada have held similar demonstrations. Canada's Conservative government, since it took office in 2006, has abandoned "Kyoto Protocol" commitment, which was signed by the former Liberal government, and introduced new environmental project. The plan bring forward that it will reduce twenty percents of the greenhouse gas emission in 2020 on the basis of 2006, it is equal to two percents reduction on the level of 1990. Compared with the figures in the framework of "Kyoto Protocol" commitment promised by former government, this one was greatly reduced.

Statistics show Canada is one of the countries with largest warm gas emission per capita. With a population of 33 million, its warm gas emission consist 2% of total warm gas emission worldwide. Ministry of Environment's ministor Prints said on 12, Canada expects to coorprate with America on the environmental problem. Two countries should make common goal and plan to reduce emission and set standards. Prentice said at a news conference that on environmental issues Obama came to power with more open mind provides an opportunity for coordinated action between two countries within the framework .

He stressed that, given the close economic ties between the two countries, it was impractical to execute their own policies in environmental and energy issues. Prentice also said that Canada hoped to reach an agreement with the US on "greenhouse gas reduction and trading system" to cope with the climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions together.
