Sunshine indicated that, in view of the time of some wavelengthes vanished during the day and others didn't, that proves water and hydroxyl are both existed. Peeters said the probability of the three instruments occurs the same problem almost zero, not to mention that they were installed in three different detectors, so this is really confirmed the existence of water and hydroxyl on the lunar surface. He also said, "Undoubtedly, there are definitely water and hydroxyl on the surface of the moon."

Pieters explained that scientists had done the tests for the lunar soil samples astronauts brought back to Earth, then did find traces of water, but at that time they thought it was polluted by the Earth's air. Three scientists, who did not involved in the latest research, said that this conclusion is of great significance. Ron Greeley, from Arizona State University also said that the result is quite clear by using Pieters's words.
