Every young man has a hoodie. The word "hoodie", or hoody, was selected into the list of new words and phrases in the 9th edition of the Collins English Dictionary. Hoodie is actually a kind of coat with a loose head covering attached to it and a pocket in the front like the one of a kangaroo. Hoodie become extremely popular recent years, especially among young people, it's warm, comfortable and very attractive. A&F, which is short for Abercrombie & Fitch, is famous for its hoodie. You might think that hoodie is a new thing that appeared only recently, but as a matter of fact, hoodie has a long and complicated history. The history of the specific garment began in the 1930s, but historical precedent dates the style and form of the hoodie back to the Middle Ages. The formal wear for Catholic monks included a cowl, a long, decorative hood worn in addition to the standard robe. I am sure that we have seen these "original hoodie" in some films or documentaries.

In the western countries, especially in UK, hoodie has been the subject of much criticism: the police found that many shoplifters wore hoodie to conceal their identities from the CCTV cameras in big shopping centers.

But gradually, hoodie are widely accepted by common people to wear every day. People wear hoodies in casual settings for its warmth and protection against wind. Many US colleges and universities create their own hoodies with their logos on them. Hoodies are a common dress for outside exercises such as jogging and running. They are generally regarded as very casual dress.

Nowadays, however, hoodie is no longer just something casual to wear to keep warm; it becomes more fashionable with more different designs based on the original hood and kangaroo pocket. You have to have at least one reindeer of A&F to become fashionable this winter.
