King Lear himself only retained the king's appellation and 100 attendants, ready to take turns living in two daughters' home in his left age. Who would have guessed that after achieving their own dreams, his two daughters drove their father out of their houses and King Lear drifted from place to place homelessly and miserabley. But have we ever thought of that he is a ordinary man, as ordinary as ourselves, if he did not adopt other’s advices and true words, how could he maintain his kingship until present, how could he manage his country like this? However, because of his high state and long time unopposed imperial life, King Lear was surrounded by people making up for him. They always followed him, treat everything by the King's appetite. He looked like an addicted junkie who regarded flatter as a must of his daily life and could not live without it.
When losing his throne and power and going through all kinds of difficulties, he found back his conscience. His last lament was not for his power and respect, but for his little daughter who was expelled and cursed by him. Sadly, there is no way to get her kindness back from her permanent sleep and this makes he realizes that the most valuable thing is true love which can not be exchanged by money or power. However, when his two daughters flattered him happily, his little daughter Cordelia did not do like that and was afraid of quarreling with him. She made him unhappy so he expelled her.
The youngest daughter was kind and obedient but meanwhile stubborn and impulsive. Since she realized the nature and conspiracy, why not struggle for her position pave a way for her father later? It is true that men should stick to their principles, but in most cases, speaking is more important than just action as it can help you express clearly what you think. It cannot be denied that she is happy and lives her life in love, having a lover who loves her truly which cannot be desired by her sisters. But at the same time, she is impulsive. Because of her father's miserable sufferings from her two bad sisters, she sent the army to suppress them, with the result of failing and dying in the jail. Isn't she impulsive?
She should take certain actions when have prepared well if she could not bear it. But she ventured to send troops under conditions of not complete preparation, so it was doomed to be a failure. Although the story happened in a remote ancient country, it has many exemplifications in our real life. We all like people who say honeyed words and praising words to us, but the result turns out that they are just the people who hurt us. This is the denounce for those conspirator with flattering. There are many differences between the appearence and essence of life. We cannot lose our reason and be the next King Lear because of the appearence, "All is not gold that glitters." And everyone of us has a in our heart concept and standard of good and evil as well as true and false. And nobody can make a judgement of them since he was born. The real life is cruel and it is impossible for us to get the good result as what happens in the novel.
We make a right judgment on right and wrong only after undergoing them. We also cannot lose our heads to tell just because of our desires inhearts. How can we feel sweet if we have not tasted bitter?
